THURSDAY, AUGUST 9
The Tossers @ RECORD BAR
When it comes to the genre of American-based Irish rock no one does it better then these boys from the Southside of Chicago. A lively show that forces crowds to their feet and several CDs that make it in the old changer more than just around the season of the leprechaun. Out in support of their latest release "Agony", Kansas City is lucky to have them as they usually find their way to a Lawrence stage on their tours through this part of the country. This is a summer show not to miss! – Di

AUGUST 26
Meat Puppets and The Hearers @ RECORD BAR
The Pups are back! Local record label, Anodyne Records, has released the new Meat Puppets album "Rise to Your Knees" and I have my copy in heavy rotation on the ol' disc player. The album is available at www.anodynerecords.com, iTunes or in stores.
Meat Puppets fans, don't be weary of what will come from the boys after their hiatus, the album is a must have. As for their live show, MEOW! The pups still know how to please their fans. The following is a clip from our March 23 Sad Dog.
The Meat Puppets (Anodyne Showcase @ The Parish) It was my second time seeing the Puppets in two days and it got better with every show. By the time The Puppets hit the stage the house was full, and from what I hear, at capacity with a line to get in. Over the past eleven years I have listened to their recordings with the feeling of nostalgia. No longer!!! Recently picked up by Anodyne Records, the Puppets are back, feet firmly planted in the present, a new album on the way and a street buzz you can't escape. The energy in The Parish was like getting drunk and laughing your ass off with an old friend you haven't seen in awhile. We had a rock moment. We were very happy.
As you know, I am extremely proud of KC and equally proud of the music born in its borders. Today was a great day for Anodyne Records and KC music. -jaq

SEPTEMBER 21
Split Lip Rayfield @ CROSSROADS KC at Grinders
We were surprised and excited when we received the email that the three remaining members of Split Lip Rayfield were doing an upcoming show in Kansas City. They've decided the best way to honor the memory of their friend (Split Lip Rayfield guitarist, Kirk Rundstrom lost his battle with esophageal cancer earlier this year) is to do what he would have wanted them to….get back up on stage and play that great music. We've got our tickets and you can get yours at Grinders or via the Crossroads Live website at: www.crossroadskc.com
